Benefit Mini Beauty Haul

Processed with MOLDIV

Aloha!!…sorry. This post is making me feel a bit tropical! Welcome to this mini Benefit haul, these products definitely caught my eye on the Benefit counter in boots. Benefit do some of the most incredible packaging and I’m a sucker for beautiful packaging hence the blog post. However it is quite pricey. But is it worth it?!………

Dew the Hoola

This is basically a liquid bronzer and is lovely; for £22.50 you get 30ml which I think is quite good. I can see why this was a TATLER beauty awards 2016 winner. I think a lot of us like a bronzer without the glitter or sheen; and this is what it will give you. The bottle is a stunning shiny gold colour and has a pump which will keep it clean and ensure you don’t pour too much out. The consistency is quite thin which you can use on bare skin or over your foundation. I used 2 pumps over my NARs sheer glow foundation and it gave me a lovely bronze matt look . I used it on the outer edges of my forehead, and across the top of my cheeks and nose. I know Ill be able to use this all year round. Gorge!

So this is a balm stick with 3 different colours of pink champagne, sheer watermelon and soft-coral. the case is a gorgeous  rose gold colour with a twist wheel at the bottom to wind the product up. However for £23.50 sadly I am not impressed with the actual balm …ouch! – I’m not sure if it was because it’s so sheer there was not much colour pay off. I followed the instructions and glided this across my cheek and the most I got was the middle watermelon shade, but once I had blended with my fingers, it almost disappeared and my cheek just felt sticky. I had such high hopes for this to work with the Hoola 😦 But I am going to stick with it and try it on bare skin and wearing minimal make-up. It’s too pretty to give back, so I will keep it and make it work! 🙂 Has anyone else got this? what do you think?

Precisely, My Brow Pencil

This has to be my favourite of the 3 products. I recently finished my Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil which I loved but just haven’t got round to ordering a new one. So thought Id give this Benefit pencil a try as It was part of a Benefit display in Boots and needed something for my brows. It is £18.50 and is so creatively designed in a cool sleek silver colour with quirky lids each end; there are 6 shades to choose from numbered 1-6 so there is a shade for all, I got shade 5-deep as I have dark brown brows. It has a super fine tip which claims to give hair like strokes; and a brush spoolie on the other end which I love when brow pencils have this. It does what it says, I actually said ‘WOW’ out loud when I used this. This pencil will enable you to create a super defined brow with control, it does look a little harsh when are done with the pencil but once blended with the brush end it’s just perfect. love, love, love!

July Favourites 2016

July Faves.jpg

July has been a good month for products that I have been enjoying, maybe its something to do with the sunnier weather we have been experiencing and I’ve felt more inspired to actually use what I have or purchase something new to try with a summer feel.

Gucci Bamboo

Love this! This perfume is beautiful, I did expect this to be the case though before I had even tested it. Gucci’s advertising campaign for this is what initially drew me to the product – they just get it right. It’s a very sophisticated scent which definitely has a base note of sandalwood which I always go for in a perfume. Although the scent is quite strong; at the same time it is also very feminine. The bottle itself is very classy with angled shaped smoked glass and a silver bamboo style lid, it looks so elegant on display. I also found unlike a lot of other perfumes this one has a good lasting scent therefore perfect for a special night out when there is no room in your bag for a bottle of perfume! It completes the ‘getting ready’ process perfectly; Every time I wear this perfume, someone always comments.  I don’t often re-purchase perfumes as I like to change it up, but I will definitely repurchase this.

Herbal Essences Naked Daily Clean Shampoo

This has definitely been a favourite throughout July – lets be honest a lot of us purchase a shampoo based on the smell. I am guilty of this with this one – it’s white strawberry and mint…Mine! (luckily) It just so happens it also does what I need it to do. My hair type is fine with greasy roots and dry ends…nice! it’s a constant battle and having long hair this shampoo is gentle enough so I can wash it every other day. This smells amazing and think it is my second fave scented shampoo for my hair – first being coconut 🙂 This shampoo is refreshing and leaves it so clean and with volume which is what I want.  It is suitable to use everyday and isn’t going to create build up which drags hair down leaving it lank. Nice one HE.

Ray-Ban Aviator Sunglasses

I went on holiday at the start of July and wanted to treat myself to a decent pair of sunglasses that were not going to go off trend. I had always liked the aviator style and find these suit my oval face shape the best, and who does aviators better than Ray-Ban?! I bought these online from Next and do not regret one penny on buying these. They are the black Retro Aviators with gold hardware, and have the tortoise shell brown bar above the lenses that give them an edgier look. The case is a simple tan clasp wallet that is a great size for a smaller hand bag. They are quite light weight and gave  me a shield for my eyes from the sun that I was looking for. They also give the perfect stylish finish to any outfit.

Palmolive Naturals Pampering Shower Milk

This is the second bottle purchased throughout July, I own quite a few shower gels but just keep reaching for this one. The best part is each time I have purchase this I’ve paid £1 …major bargain in my opinion. It has such clean fresh, soapy scent which is really refreshing and definitely wakes you up. I use this on a shower puff and it lathers really well, which I wasn’t expecting with it being a shower milk – I may go overboard with the amount I use, but I like to use a thick layer as a shaving product for my legs, and it does not leave my skin with that dry tight feeling after. Love this!

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Souffle Body Crème

LM Cream.jpg

I purchased this product last November with some vouchers I received for my birthday and literally have been scared to use it because of how much it cost! £45. It has been constantly staring at me since then so as soon as we started getting some nice weather I decided why not. It’s gorgeous. I love the cute jar it comes in, and with a screw cap lid it will definitely stay ‘fresh’. The Crème itself is pure luxury, the scent is to die for, it’s almost like a fresh pastry crossed with perfume scent and for some reason it works. I have never used anything like it before. It’s not overly thick and it does take a bit of working into the skin but it’s so worth it. This will definitely only be an annual purchase because of the cost but don’t think I could ever not own this!

Thank you for visiting and reading this blog hope you enjoyed it!

Freedom Topshop Earrings

I just popped into Topshop as I needed some new costume jewellery; especially earrings, I am rubbish at looking after them and always end up with odd ones – if this became a fashion Id be winning 🙂

So browsing through the Freedom section I saw these:….

Fell in love immediately, and a purchase I didn’t have to umm and ahh over especially when I saw the price …£12.50 for 16 pairs of earrings!! I must have counted them 20 times thinking this cant be right.. I also get student discount so I paid £11.25 – almost didn’t ask as they were such a bargain.

They are a mix of different shapes and I also like that there is a choice of gold and silver metals, and also some with stones. And they are of good quality, I love the chain ones in the bottom right hand corner.

There is something for every occasion here, I can see me struggling to choose which ones to wear, they are all gorge!

Hopefully these ones will last me a while.

Celebrating at the Savoy London

Hello! So last week it was my husband’s and my 10 year wedding anniversary. As it was a bit of a milestone we decided to celebrate in style. So we hopped on the train and made for London, we were off to the Savoy! I don’t think we could have chosen anywhere more perfect. I didn’t really know much about the Savoy, but Kevin had done his research and booked us up. From the moment we pulled up and our door was opened I knew I was somewhere special. The check in process is quite formal – you are seated at a desk in an opulent room – I don’t know why but I felt nervous and was definitely watching my manners. We then were escorted to our room by the lady at check in with a mini tour of the hotel included en route. We also noted that all staff always say good morning/afternoon whenever you pass them ..without fail they really do make you feel special. We had booked a King room and it was beautiful, the only thing I would say is the bath is huge and I was just floating around – you cant get a grip of anything so not very relaxing. The bed is also huge probably one of the best nights sleep I’ve had. Everywhere you look is glamorous luxury, the chandeliers the flowers even the uniforms – no expense is spared. We had planned a trip that evening to see Wicked at the Apollo theatre (AMAZING) when we returned our room had been cleaned, rose petals were everywhere and a side of chocolate cake put out for us, bless them. Sooo fast forward to breakfast in the Thames foyer tea room, so regretted putting my converse on ugh! it was just beautiful. I’m gutted I wasn’t hungry but had few too many the night before in the Savoy American bar, so went for an English breakfast tea, the waitress advised it was tea that was not available anywhere else in the world so of course I said yes please, it was served in silver tea ware and was the best cup of tea I have ever had, I cant believe I’m actually talking about a cup of tea but it was that good  – seriously I felt like the queen! If you get the chance, go! I cannot imagine this place ever getting a bad review 🙂

MAC Tendertalk lipbalm

This little treasure arrived yesterday through the letter box, and I say treasure as I will be devastated if this is ever discontinued. My first impression was how pretty the casing is, it’s like chrome with an iridescent effect; so different from the usual black bullet MAC use for their lipsticks. A plus also being that at least it will be easier to find!…

I believe MAC have 5 different colours in this range, and with it being the summer season I went for the coral – official name ‘pretty me up’. They cost £15.50 which is pricey for a lip balm. When you swatch this on your hand there is very little pigment but a lovely sheen, until that is you put it on your lips you can definitely notice the colour more. The consistency is perfect its very creamy and feels like its nourishing and moisturising, everything you need in a lip balm. Its not sticky either. Ill definitely be purchasing other colours, and this one has definitely made the cut to my makeup bag.
